Naomi's View of Things

So I'm supposed to write about how I met my wonderful fiancé Tony. Well, I do know that it is slightly different from how he would tell it. January 2008 was the first time we met, but I really don't remember much of that because I had a bad headache. When we visited my brothers at GCC, I was impressed how he remembered my name and could tell Carolyn and me apart, but I still didn't think a lot about him. In fact, when he had friend requested me on Facebook back in January; I eventually blocked him from most of my pages because I forgot who he was.

Thankfully (for him), he was back in the picture when my brother thought he would be a good date for me to my high-school prom. I was nervous about going with him since I did know so little about him, but I found out right away that I could talk with him very easily and he could make me laugh more than anyone I knew. So when we went to prom, we had a blast, and I started being really interested in him as more than a friend. Never did I think that he would be interested in a high-school senior, soon to become a young college freshman.

So I was shocked when my parents told me that Tony had asked for their permission to date me..wow!!! (guys never do that anymore!!!) So soon after Dad checked Tony out and gave his permission, we started dating. We were talking on the phone about nicknames at the time and I said that I didn't have any nicknames for myself. He emailed me if I wanted to be Tony's girlfriend and he would be Naomi's boyfriend. And of course I said sure. Our relationship has had its ups and downs. Joys like talking for 6 hours on the phone being offset by not seeing each other for 2 months. We of course have misunderstandings but we have more than our fair share of laughter. I have come to respect, appreciate, and love Tony throughout the two plus years being together for who he is, how works hard at our relationship, and his efforts to get to know my friends and family.

When Tony asked me to marry him on July 3rd, 2010 with the stars overhead and a lovely creek trickling nearby, I said yes. What else could I say? So now as we look forward to how God will work in our future, we hope that you too will share in our excitement and pleasure.
